Flu season is here. Have you been vaccinated?
It is recommended you get your flu shot or spray as soon as possible. Flu season reaches its peak around January or February, and can last up until May. Early immunization is the best option, however, it’s not too late to get the shot in January or later.
Those wishing to get the vaccine can get either a flu shot or a nasal spray. The flu shot is made from the dead influenza virus, and is approved for use by adults and children ages 6 months and up. The nasal spray is made from a live, weakened virus, and is approved for use by healthy people, ages 2-49, who are not pregnant. Either option is a smart choice, as a vaccination reduces the risk of getting the flu by 60 percent.
